Time in the confessional – aka ‘an ode to Tahoma’

OK – so you've seen how I installed Linux on my laptop with minimal hassle. There was still something up but I couldn't see what it was until just recently. The fonts. So far I haven't come across any fonts in Linux that I was comfortable with. Since my laptop came with the obligatory unescapable Microsoft tax I thought I'd make use of it and copy the truetype fonts over to what is now my 'main' OS.

Badabing – Control Center/Appearance/Fonts/ – adjusted all 'non fixed-width' fonts to be 9 pt Tahoma and everything came into line. I don't know why I've been able to mentally adjust to this better than the default fonts, but it just 'seems' right. Normal Linux fonts were best seen in 'large' format which meant a lot less screen real estate but with Tahoma I've been able to get a much better GUI experience.
