Use Linux, get Detention (in Austin, TX)
When a student wanted to show other children in his class the power of linux, he got rewarded by his teacher. Well… When I say rewarded, I actually meant reprimanded, his disks confiscated and detention. In addition, the teacher emailed the manager of the distribution (in this case the HeliOS project).
A choice part of the teacher’s original email: ” At this point, I am not sure what you are doing is legal. No software is free and spreading that misconception is harmful.”
His response was informed, intelligent and to the point. He’s also had a chat with the Austin Independent School District Superintendant and called a meeting with him and the teacher involved. Should be fun to see the result
